When one of our favourite clients call: we always answer!

Mrs. Bilala Mabuza( taste maker and wife of trailblazing restauranteur Mr. Desmond Mabuza) requested an urgent meeting with me a fortnight before the 11th of June 2024.

I arrived amped for a dream brief:

Transform the iconic Signature Restaurant Morningside space into a chic floral birthday affair.

Mr. Desmond Mabuza had opened the doors to the iconic Signature Restaurant in Morningside Sandton 15 years ago and this was to be celebrated in high style!

The project had added va-va-voom injected with the celebrity event planner Precious at the helm.

I was nervous and excited as Precious is well known and loved for her signature lavish celebrations!

Precious is a consummate professional and we immediately struck a cord.

Mrs. Mabuza had prepared a visual deck with all the details and designs that she had selected.

Precious and myself took to task and got to work.

Precious created a slick spatial layout and saw to it that all the details hummed together seamlessly.

Myself and the hand selected support team created a floral production schedule and the countdown had begun!

Hundreds of red roses, black berries, red amaranths and  maroon tinted cymbidiums flown in from Cape Town( arriving mere hours before the event) were skilfully arranged in an array of all black glass containers.

Oxblood red table scapes and black tapered candles adorned the room and took the invited guests breath away as they entered the space.

It never ceases to amaze me when hundreds of hours of work seems to click together effortlessly on the day of the event when every detail sings together in unison.

This project has been my personal favourite so far this year and was everything a splendid affair should be!

The best part of the event was the heartfelt thank you note received from Mrs.Mabuza after the event:

“Dear Colin,
A heartfelt thank you for what you did for us yesterday.
The flowers and candles were exquisite and the room never looked that glamorous!
Thank you for the work of your hands and heart.”
